The University Department of Information and Communication Technology (UDICT) recently organized an orientation program focused on addressing the issue of ragging. This
anti-ragging orientation took place from August 17th to August 18th, 2023, and was specifically targeted at the incoming UDICT first year students of division 1-5 for the academic year 2023-2024.
The program commenced on its first day with a significant event: the students collectively
took a solemn pledge that reads, "I commit to refraining from participating in any form of
ragging or violent behavior. Similarly, I will not accept any form of ragging or violence
directed towards me. I am aware that if I am accused of engaging in ragging, the burden of
proof lies upon me to demonstrate my innocence".
Faculty members of UDICT delivered talks during the program, discussing the repercussions
of ragging and the legal ramifications associated with it. To conclude the first day orientation,
students participated in an extempore event where they expressed their perspectives on
various predetermined topics
The conclusion of the second day of the Orientation program featured a series of engaging
activities, including an Essay Writing competition, a Slogan creation challenge, and a Logo
design contest. These activities took place in the Einstein Hall and attracted the participation
of around 147 students. The students not only actively took part in these events but also
greatly appreciated the experience. Here are a few photographs capturing moments from these diverse activities:
