University Department of Information & Communication Technology had organized the Online Expert Talk entitled “Blockchain Technology” on 19.08.2023 for B. Tech and Third year students. The main objective of this talk was to make students aware of different aspects of blockchain such as distributed ledger, smart contracts, Bitcoin etc. and real life applications of blockchain. The event started with the welcome and formal introduction of guest speakers. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. Minakshi Rajput, Assistant Professor, UDICT. Introduction of the guest was given by Mr. Aniket Chaudhari, B. Tech IT student. After introduction, the session was handed over to guest speaker Mr. Atul Anand.
Mr. Atul who is a head, Program management (Strategic initiatives & Transition) at Toll Technology Centre, Pune guided students on topics like history of blockchain, different types of blockchain network. He also explained students on how blockchain is highly secure, traceable and reliable. He motivated students to do their career in this emerging field. After this, Mr. Sachin Kuberkar, Emerging Technology Lead at Toll Technology Centre, Pune has covered various aspects like smart contract, distributed ledger, consensus algorithm, applications of blockchain in blood supply chain management, banking, real estate and he also explained the mistakes which are to be avoided during blockchain implementation.
This virtual event brought together blockchain enthusiasts and student’s curious minds together creating the atmosphere of knowledge sharing and innovation. The outcome program is that the students interacted with experts by asking queries and got satisfactory answers from them. Students also understood the basics of blockchain technology. Students are now aware of new challenges that exist in monetizing business around blockchain and smart contracts. The vast experience, knowledge of the experts in this field really created interest of this recent technology among students Finally Session was ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. M.R. Rajput. Thanks to the Head of the Department Dr. Sharvari Tamane for granting permission for the said event and encouraging us and all kind of support extended.
