While introducing the program, Dr. Sharvari Tamane, Program Chair, IBSSC 2024, emphasized the
importance of the theme of the IBSSC 2024 conference: "Frontiers of Technology: Fueling Prosperity
of the Planet and People" and the growing significance of AIML and data analytics in various
engineering fields.
Registrar, Dr. Ashish Gadekar stated that MGM University has completed its fifth year and has been
working in various fields for the last four decades. By providing multidisciplinary education, the
university has facilitated the overall development of students. MGM University has also signed
agreements with various institutions and undertaken programs for student welfare.
Addressing the audience on "Changing Indian Research Landscape", Dr. O G Kakde remarked, "We are
in an era of challenges". He highlighted the positive impact of the COVID crisis in prompting
significant research in the medical field. Dr. Kakde stressed the importance of focusing on addressing
root problems in research and ensuring its direct applicability to industry and society. He further
mentioned that only 0.7% of GDP is spent on research and development in the country. Today, it is
essential to create a system in which industry funds are available for research.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Vilas Sapkal emphasized the importance of conducting interdisciplinary
research alongside multidisciplinary education to address contemporary challenges effectively.
Dr. M S Joshi, Adjunct Professor, Government Engineering College, Sambhajinagar, in her keynote
address on "Era of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning," discussed abnormalities in brain
regions associated with memory encoding in schizophrenia. Dr. Joshi proposed and tested working
models for diagnostic classification and treatment response prediction of individual patients. She
underscored the inevitability of AI in various aspects of life and cautioned against over-reliance on AI
for tasks the human brain can perform.
Ten research papers were presented in the post-lunch sessions, judged for quality by internal and
external session chairs from MGMU and other renowned institutions.
The presented papers will be included in the 2024 IEEE Bombay Section Signature Conference
(IBSSC) ISBN book for publication (with ISBN Number: 978-81-963277-6-7).
